The Cajun Congress
It's the People, Not the Party.
Why Bastille Day?

Bastille Day celebrates the storming of the Bastille, a Parisian prison, on July 14th, 1789. The Bastille was a symbol of royal oppression to the French people, and often it held prisoners who were arrested on trumped up royal charges that could not be appealed. The Third Estate led the attack, and today this act of defiance symbolizes the freedom of France from the monarchy and marks the beginning of the French revolution.

The Vermilion Parish Caucus was a huge success! So many ideas for the parish flew around Black's that Tuesday night. Great ideas for improving various areas in Vermilion Parish. One thing that we found out was that Vermilion Parish is ranked 11th in the state for scores. That is something this parish should be commended on considering the past trials students faced with hurricanes and various other disasters that disrupted their education.

We expected far less than we received from this parish, and for that we are thankful. So thanks to everyone who attended. Your presence and ideas were and are truly appreciated.
